Seo Taiji is a HACK!

There I said it. He's a hack. A HACK!!! A big old stinky hackety hack hack hack haaaaaaaack!!! And I say this as someone who used to, and still do, love Seo Taiji. You won't know who Seo Taiji is unless you're Korean but know this, the man's a fraud.

I was okay with him stealing Flavor Flav's clock, PM Dawn's dreads and hippi poncho, NWA's button up and beanie, Kurt Cobain's pink hair, Cypress Hill's voice, etc. "Paying homage" to someone's style- fashion and music- is one thing, straight up stealing someone's guitar solo... that makes you a loser.

I used to love his song, Hayoga, from a very early age and my favorite part was always the guitar solo- it's one bad ass guitar solo, let me tell you. So, imagine my surprise when, one day, at work, some trash metal song's playing and all of sudden... Hey! I know that solo! WTF?! I go to check and find that it's a song called First Strike is Deadly by the Testaments. The Testaments!!! You're going to steal a guitar solo from one of the premier thrash metal bands?!

Sigh...

So I google "seo taiji", "first strike is deadly", surely someone besides me would have noticed, right? Hmmm... just 2 links, both broken. Hmm... all audio clips of Hayoga has the solo omitted. So, I sincerely hope that this comes up on someone's google results and if it does, I offer this as proof:

By the way, I'm not a big fan of metal but First Strike is Deadly is pretty awesome. There's a few pitch changes here and there but there's no doubt that it's the same solo. If the Testaments is David Bowie, than Seo Taiji is Vanilla Ice.
